Pengawse Isaf [pronounced pen-gow-say] means 'the first house at the top of the waterfall.'
This cottage is a 200-year old farmhouse in a spectacular position overlooking the coast. The views out to sea of Newport Bay are framed by massive headlands. The land slopes down away from the cottage towards the sea and the house enjoys four acres of its own grounds which guests are encouraged to explore.
Pengawse Isaf has been modernised over the years and the house is now a well presented property with all the comforts required to make your stay relaxed and enjoyable.
The well-equipped kitchen contains an oil-fired Rayburn serving the central heating and hot water and there is a good electric cooker with fan oven. There is a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine - the tumble drier is in the garage where there is also an additional loo. There is small table in the kitchen for informal meals and the views from here are superb. You could have a holiday just watching the ever-changing colours of sky and sea.
A corridor leads to the sitting room / dining room with a larger dining table which will take eight comfortably. Three sofas will seat seven - one of these, plus an additional chair, are suited to an upright sitting position, while the other two sofas are more luxurious by nature. A woodburning stove [logs included] makes this room warm and cosy anytime of year. There is a stereo system and a collection of books and classical CDs to keep you entertained during the hours of darkness. TV/video & DVD.
The furnishings are of a high standard and the overall feeling we hope you will have is that the cottage is our home. It is not just a holiday house, fun to visit in the summer months, but a home that is good to stay in at any time of year.
The garden is a particular feature of the property - it has been lovingly cared for, and we hope visitors will not mind if the gardeners call for an hour or two during their stay.
